Leaving no one behind is a key element implemented in the 2030 Agenda on sustainable development. In this 1-hour digital session you will hear from experts from the Swedish startup ecosystem, Vinnova, Gothenburg Centre for Sustainable Development and more on their experiences around issues of gender in innovation and how we can build the path for the future.

Sustainable Development Goals, also known as the SDGs, are all also tied to one another.

While SDG 5 stands to achieve gender equality and empower all women and girls, SDG 9 aims to promote the development of quality, reliable, sustainable and resilient infrastructure; inclusive and sustainable industrialisation; and innovations in information and communications technologies. In order for economies to become truly inclusive and sustainable, we need to have the right policies and practices in place.

As research, innovation, and new industries increasingly drive the knowledge economy and form the backbone of global economic growth, gender-sensitive policies and concerted investment in women and girls’ education and training are critical. In Europe, 1 in 5 computer science graduates are women (OECD Gender Data Portal, 2018). In Scandinavia, the gap in Norway, Sweden and Denmark is particularly wide.

Innovation should be designed for everyone – it is not only about the teams we put together.

Come join, talk and innovate with us. We only have one planet. We are all in this together.

Moderator: Anna Taussi, Innovation Specialist at S3i - Sustainable Investments in Infrastructure and Innovation UNOPS.
